Die ERDE - Aus dem Weltraum fotografiert | DIY frame, more information in the comments
I found this treasure in my grandma's attic. The poster is about 1500x900mm. I have not found a suitable picture frame, so I built one myself from stainless steel.
Banana for scale.
The picture was taken by Tom Van Sant Inc. in 1990.
The EARTH photographed from space
From 836km in space. Scale: 1cm = 275km
This spectacular image is a historic milestone. The colorful mosaic of satellite images shows a virtually cloud-free Earth. Thousands of individual weather satellite images from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration were electronically pieced together to produce this true picture of the world. The giant puzzle took ten months to assemble and was completed in April 1990. The result is this exceptionally clear, sharp, and colorful image of planet Earth.
This poster was created by Tom van Sant in collaboration with the GeoSphere Project in Santa Monica,
California. Support: NOAA, NASA, and the National Geographic Society. Technical direction: Lloyd van
Warren. A portion of the proceeds goes to the GeoSphere Project, which works to educate the public about environmental conservation and protecting our precious Earth.
