Tudo depende de uma coisa: Emprego. Independente da escolha, eu não me mudaria de cidade sem ter emprego garantido.

Supondo que você tenha emprego garantido... Do ponto de vista universitário, Floripa é a melhor opção, mas também a mais cara

It's so weird. It's almost like they asked a child to point to random countries in the map and decided to recognize only those countries

People from tribes of other linguistic groups.

They live in the Brazilian and Colombian Amazon. Although everyone of them know at least three languages, it's not rare to find individuals who know more than 8 languages and that's what makes them the most linguisticly diverse group on earth.

For the Tukano peoples it's considered incest for a man to marry a woman from the same linguistic group. All Tukanos know AT LEAST three languages: The Tukano language, the mother's language and the national language (Portuguese/Spanish), making them the most linguisticly diverse group on earth

well i'm not sure what country in south america or oceania would qualify as 'switzerland like'.

Me neither. I can think of a lot of cities in Argentina, Chile, Peru and even here in Brazil that can qualify as "switzerland like", but entire countries... I don't think any does

Lovely country.

Not only because of the monarchy, but also because of the landscapes. It's basically the Asian Switzerland

And the best Buddhist architecture in the world

Romania is the greatest architecture melting pot in the world.

You can find Victorian, Bizantine, Russian, Ottoman and Communist architecture, all in the same city

So what make some countries like Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and Uruguay enticing to immigration back in the day as opposed to currently?

Europe was the most unstable continent in the world, while the Americas were "the future". Wars were omnipresent in the Old World, and although they also existed here, they were way less common.

Also land, many countries were extremely uninhabited, so the leaders used to offer free (or very cheap) land to immigrants

And most important, the chance of a restart. Most immigrants were extremely poor and some times even considered "undesirable" by their governments (like the Lebanese Christians that came to Brazil). So it was worth trying a new life in the New World, the life couldn't get worse than it already was at home.

A good example of it is the Count Matarazzo, he was part of an extremely poor Italian family, he literally almost died of starvation during his childhood. He decided to emigrate to Brazil, where he not only managed to stop starving, but also become the 2nd richest person of the country's history and received the noble title of Count by the Italian King.

Well, if your family is from the Azores, even if you learn to speak Portuguese fluently, you'll have problems to communicate with them. Even native Portuguese-speakers (from both varieties) struggle to understand the Azorian accent
