Famous American toponymist George R. Stewart made a pretty good case for Oregon deriving it's name from the Wisconsin river.

I'm not going to ban users over their political ideology.

Reddit should be a place with a free exchange of ideas. If you have a differing viewpoint then argue it. If you can't articulate your beliefs, then maybe your ideology isn't as sound as you thought.

Choropleth maps are usually removed. Check out the aesthetic guidelines.

Certainly, you haven't had much time moderating it.

So what would be acceptable to you?

This is a very articulate and well-thought out comment. Thanks for that. I agree with almost the entirety of the substance of what you're saying.

May I ask, have you read this post

That was my attempt to give some guidelines for the content of this sub. If you haven't read it, please take a look before reading further.

Now, in response to your comment, I'm going to say that there is an element of balance in moderating a subreddit. There are many aesthetic opinions out there, not just yours or mine. The community drives the content on most every subreddit. Every person is going to see content that is not up to their standards. That's just how it is...there's going to be signal and there's going to be noise.

Additionally, I've looked through your examples. Some of these are only a few hours old. Some have only a handful of upvotes and are being ignored. The system isn't broken.

And I really agree with you. I'd love for this subreddit to be the "Louvre" of maps, but that's just a fantasy. My resources are limited and volunteer.

If you want to see some change, be the change you want to see. I briefly looked thru your post history, and I don't see any recent map posts. So if you want to solve this, be part of the solution.
